The annual Kitchen and Tyrell debates were held on the 5th of August in the CGGS science atrium. These debates were named after two influential people in the CGGS and CGS debating community and pitched our brilliant year 9 and 12 debating teams against two CGS teams. The evening was filled with witty, humourous debates and well-constructed arguments from both schools.
Our year 9 team won their debate against the topic that the Olympics should introduce a non-gendered open section, proving why their side would encourage freedom of gender expression and inclusivity.
Our year 12 team also emerged victorious, debating for the topic that we should introduce a maximum age limit in parliament, discussing the engaging idea of the older generations’ questionable ability to make decisions for the country.
