Recently, one of the most impressive World Wonders has been reopened after Peru protests on Wednesday, 15th of February. Civil unrest in Peru has left the historic sight closed and unable to explore for nearly a month but now it is again the perfect place to go to receive rest and a sense of peace among the clouds.
The Machu Picchu is the biggest attraction to tourism and interest in Peru. It is a magnificent mountain from which an ancient Inca civilization developed and lived by for one-hundred years. This civilization was invaded by early Spanish soldiers and yet the mountain village remained hidden, even if abandoned. For hundreds of years, The Machu Picchu had sat undisturbed high in the Andes, hidden beneath moss and tangled vines. So it had not been discovered by the Spanish conquistadors who defeated the Incas. This mountain and its small village have existed since supposedly 1420 and was properly deserted in 1560, twenty years after the Spanish invaded the village below. The Machu Picchu is a more than exceptional place to go for a break, with stretching, amazing views and old, historic buildings. The mountain above you and green fields surrounded by history is a perfect chance to let yourself be free and awed by the landscape.
In the exquisite ruins of the Machu Picchu, there are three main rooms based on the ancient Inca civilization style, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. The ruins are very advanced and beautifully carved outlining that the Inca civilization were very good stone workers.
Modern day archeologists now believe that the ruins and the Machu Picchu in general paid homage to the leaders and nobles of the Inca until the village and the Machu Picchu was deserted. Now this place is a world heritage sight and before, no one but the llamas and alpacas dwelled on the mountain range. This is partly why it is in pristine condition and is a very good place to visit. Now tourism and a way to take some time off is available, so the best place to go experience the beautiful World Wonder.
