Animal Crossing. The game that people went crazy over in 2020. Playing it myself, it’s easy to see why everyone loved it. From the sweet storyline to the charming graphics, this game has drawn my whole family in. But, would it be right for you? Let’s find out.
The first time you play, you meet Timmy and Tommy, employees of Nook Inc. They ask for your name, and then a photo. To do this you design your character. If you realise that you’ve made a mistake, don’t worry! You can change this later. Finally, they ask you for the name of the island. You can make this whatever you want, but be warned, you can’t change it, so make it appropriate! The same goes for your name.
Now, as you are flying to your new life, they play a little video to show you what island life is like. This is very sweet, and I really wish that I could have saved it …… but NEVER MIND THAT. Now, after you arrive, you get to meet President Nook himself! He is the head of Nook Inc, and he has decided to live on this island with you. Then, you meet your new villagers.
Ok, before I get started on the actual gameplay, I’ll explain the villagers. When you start out, you get two villagers. Villagers can have different personality types, such as peppy or cranky. The first two villagers you get will be a sisterly and a jock, or athletic villager. My first villagers were an Ostrich, whose name was Phoebe, and a mouse, whose name was Rod. You can get up to 10 animal villagers on your island, and if you want to get more, you have to kick people off! Which is sad.
Back to gameplay! So, a lot of the time you are running around doing whatever you want. This may sound boring BUT it is actually really relaxing and almost therapeutic. Not lying! But if you want to feel like you’ve achieved something, the main aim is to get the pop star K.K. Slider to perform on your island. Now, because I’ve played this non-stop, I got K.K. within 6 months, which is really quick. If you want to drag the game out a little longer, then don’t try as hard to get your island perfect.
Finally, my opinion. Now, I may be biased, but I’ve got to say that this is one of the best games I’ve played. It’s relaxing, fun, and the graphics are really, really good. So, I’m rating this game 5/5, and I can’t wait for the next update!
